# Splunk Agent Observability (SaaS)
> Learn about the features and considerations for SaaS deployments
Alpha features described in this document are provided by Splunk to you "as is" without any warranties, maintenance and support, or service-level commitments. Monitor, evaluate, and improve generative AI and agentic applications with Splunk Agent Observability in [Splunk Observability Cloud](https://help.splunk.com/en/splunk-observability-cloud).
Splunk Agent Observability helps you understand how AI applications behave in development and production so you can:
* Troubleshoot agent and large-language model (LLM) behavior.
* Measure response quality and application performance.
* Compare prompts, models, and application changes.
* Build more reliable AI experiences.
To get access to Splunk Agent Observability in Splunk Observability Cloud, contact your Splunk team.
## Feature differences by deployment option
Splunk Agent Observability is offered as an on-premises deployment or as a software-as-a-service (SaaS) deployment integrated with Splunk Observability Cloud.
Both deployment options provide the same features, with the following exceptions:

Additional considerations for SaaS deployments:
* Splunk Agent Observability results don't appear in [Splunk Observability Cloud global search](https://help.splunk.com/en/splunk-observability-cloud/search-reference/search-in-splunk-observability-cloud).
* Trace inputs and outputs are visible on Splunk Agent Observability pages, but are not visible on Splunk Application Performance Monitoring (APM) pages.

Review best practice sample projects to help you learn.
From the Splunk Observability Cloud main menu, select **Agent Observability** to access the product.
If you're not able to access the sample projects, you may need to be assigned an **agent\_observability** user role. See [Assign roles to users](/concepts/access-control#assign-roles-to-users-saas).
